Warm-Up and Cool-Down
Before you move to weights, prepare your muscles, joints, and nervous system with 5-10 minutes of light cardio and dynamic stretching. Suddenly loading a cold muscle to its maximum is one of the most common causes of muscle-fiber tears. Cooling down with static stretches at the end of a session speeds up recovery, brings blood flow back to normal, and helps you wake up less stiff the next day.
